Recommended Air Suspension And Fifth Wheel For 2013 Ford F-150 With Short Bed

Question:

My father-in-law has a 2013 F150 supercrew with the 5.5foot bed. He is buying a camper with a fith wheel attachment that when loaded will weigh ~12K. I need to install riderite F2525 to make sure that he doesnt lose steering control. I believe the Reese sidewinder will be my best option. What 5th wheel hitch would you recommend if you know im installing the air bags as well? will they both fit on the frame at the same time?

When you go to install a fifth wheel on the 2013 Ford F-150, you will need to install a Sidewinder to replace the pin box on the trailer. The 5-1/2 ft bed is too short for a normal slider hitch, and you could damage the cab when executing turns. If you want to send me the make and model of the pin box on the trailer I will be glad to make a recommendation for the Sidewinder that will work for you.

Since the brackets for a fifth wheel hitch will use the outside frame on the truck, they will interfere with the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs, part # F2525. I do have a solution for you that may help.

I recommend the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, part # TFR1504D. These replace the bump stops currently installed and help reduce body-roll on corners and uneven roads.

The 16K fifth wheel system I recommend is part # RP30047 and the installation kit I recommend is part # RP50081-58. I have attached a link to a fifth wheel hitch installation video for a 2013 Ford F-150 you can take a look at.

I have also attached links to several helpful articles that explain fifth-wheels, and Sidewinders.
