Recommended Brake Controller for a 2011 Ford F-150

where would the blue wire be located the only blue wire I have found is a small blue wire with a red strip on it and it is by the fire wall

You should not need to locate any loose wires to install a brake controller on your 2011 Ford F-150. Your truck should have come with a trailer connector of some kind, either a 4-Way flat or a 7-Way. In either case you would just need to use the appropriate wiring harness for the truck and controller that you use.
For example if you used the P2, # 90885, then you would need wiring harness # 22292. I have linked a video to the right showing where the harness installs for you.
