What is the Best Hitch and Wiring to use for Towing a Bass Boat with a 2006 Ford Escape
Question:
I have a 2006 escape and I need a hitch and wiring harness to pull a 18.5 foot Skeeter bass boat. The trailer is single axe with a brake.

Find out how much the boat and trailer weight total, and check the Escape owner manual to see what the towing capacity is. The 6 cylinder Escapes equipped with towing packages can tow quite a bit more than the standard 6 cylinder models.
My wife has a 2006 Escape and we have the Draw-Tite hitch on it and have been very happy with it. The CURT part # 13650 has a glossier finish. We load up a large cargo carrier on the hitch when we make our annual trip to Canada in the summer for fishing.
The recommended draw bar for these 2 inch hitches on a 2006 Escape is part # C45010.
If your Escape has the towing package, you would use part # 40455 for trailer harness wiring. If you do not have the tow package, you would use part # 118426.
I am not positive, but I believe the Escapes that came with towing packages would have a factory hitch. Since you need a hitch, I would doubt your Escape has the towing package, but again, I am not positive on this one.
I attached installation instructions and an installation video for the # 87858 for you to check out also.
