Is a Relay Needed to Install a Brake Controller on a 2011 Nissan Xterra with Factory 7-Way

Question:

Hello, I found your video on installing a brake controller on a 2011 nissan pathfinder. In that video your technician installed a relay for 12V. For me, have a 2011 nissan xterra that comes with a tow package and a 7 pole tow connector already. I cannot find the relay box to check if that relay is already installed. Do you know where I can find the relay/fuse diagram for a 2011 nissan xterra? Also..if I already have a 7 pole setup..is it possible that the relay is already there?

It is not just possible but likely that all the relays/fuses needed for the brake controller and 7-Way are already present on your 2011 Nissan Xterra with the factory 7-Way.

The easiest way to find all the fuse and relay locations is to use the vehicle owners manual. In the index you will look up fuses and then go to the appropriate pages and it will list them all out and their locations for you so you can check to make sure everything is there.

For a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 and wiring harness # 3050-P. The P2 is our most popular controller because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
