The Best Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2004 Jeep Liberty

Question:

The trailer I am pulling has only a few marker lights on it. Other than that, just the normal tail, stop, and turns. Which of the wiring harnesses is best for this situation, the Curt without the hot wire to the battery, or the Tow Ready harness with the extra battery wiring?

For your trailer you would probably be fine using Curt trailer wiring harness # C55382 on your 2004 Jeep Liberty. This harness is rated for 3 amps per circuit for stop and turn signals and 5 amps for tail lights. This is most likely plenty for your trailer. If you wanted to be certain though you would need to determine how much amperage each light draws using a meter such as # PT89ZR.

Using a powered converter, # 118524, would be the best option though no matter what the situation is because it provides power to the trailer lights directly from the vehicle battery. This also further isolates the trailer wiring from the vehicle wiring. I have linked a video showing installation of this harness for you.
