Availability of Vehicle Specific 4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness for 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
You carry some Hopkins universal kits, do you carry vehicle specific kits? They make a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2012-2014 kit, part number 11142464.

We do indeed carry a vehicle specific 4-pole trailer connector for a 2012 Jeep Cherokee, part # 118425 from Tow Ready. We also have a similar item from Curt, part # C56009.
According to Hopkins, the 11142464 harness is a fit for the 2014 Grand Cherokee only. It would not fit your 2012 model.
If you're wanting to install a brake controller, your Grand Cherokee won't have the under-dash connector unless it's equipped with the factory 7-way trailer connector. Since it sounds as if your vehicle doesn't have that feature, you'll need to hardwire the brake controller using our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. The install kit contains everything needed to install a brake controller on your Grand Cherokee, even the adapter to convert the 4-pole provided by the # 118425 to a 7-way connector.
The Tekonsha P3 brake controller you've looked at, part # 90195 is an excellent choice. My favorite feature is the user friendly controls and display, that instantly informs you of any problems with the trailer braking system in plain English (or French or Spanish if you prefer).
I've linked you to an install video showing the ETBC7 kit being installed on a 2012 Wrangler. The procedure on your GC would be similar. I've also linked you to the install instructions for the ETBC7 kit.
