Hitch And Bike Carrier Recommendation For 2011 Kia Forte5

Question:

Can I use this for a bike rack, or only ball hitch?

The hitch you asked about, part # C11124 is a Class l hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening, so you will want to keep that in mind when selecting accessories that will work with the hitch. A note from Curt states that all non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps, like part # 18050. Failure to properly support these loads will void your hitch warranty from Curt.

A lightweight bike rack I recommend is the Kuat Beta, part # B202-114. This carrier weighs less than 12.6 lbs and can be folded up both at the arms and with the shank so it takes up very minimal spacing wherever you need to store it.

If you are carrying bikes with alternative frames like a kids bike or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and helps keep the bike more level in the carrier while providing more ground clearance. I have attached a product review video for this adapter bar you can check out.

You will want to check the owner's manual or with your dealership to see if your Forte5 is rated for towing.
