Parts Needed to Install a 7-Way on a 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon from Scratch
Question:
Hi,Starting from scratch, I need to install a 7 pin harness on a 2011 Outback in the most efficient manner to accommodate a WIRELESS brake controller make unknown that will be included as part a new tear RV. It would be handy to have a standard 4 pin connector for the occasional times I might just tug a light utility trailer, too. Is there a single harness product and instruction for this project?

If you are starting from absolutely no trailer connector on your 2011 Subaru Outback Wagon you will want to first start with a 4-way. For that you will want the Curt Harness part # C56040.
Now to convert to a 7-way that will also have a 4-way connector available you would want the 7-Way Adapter part # 37185. This will plug into the 4-way you installed and then so that your wireless brake controller would have power you would only need to run the black wire of the # 37185 to the positive post of your vehicle battery through a 40 amp breaker like part # PK54540.
For wire I would recommend the part # 10-1-1.
