Replacement Retaining Clips for Pro Friction Control
Question:
I purchased the Pro Friction #83660 a few months ago and have since bentfoot both of the retaining clips while in use. Im needing to replace these as it is very difficult to attach to TV and the frame mounted ball as well. Also any tips on a better way to do this so they dont move around while towing? Clip worked itself around and actually punctured my rear bumper. Wife not happy Thanks for your assistance,

Expert Reply:
For a replacement clip for your Reese Sway Control System part # 83360 you could use the Spring Clip part # 55515.
If you insert the pin from the front towards the back it should keep the pin from pointing towards the bumper. I suspect the reason your pins broke and punctured your bumper is because you were backing up into almost a jack knife position and that is why the pins bent and punctured your bumper.
I would strongly recommend that before you get into such a tight turn you remove the sway control unit so that you don't bend more pins or even break the unit itself.
