Roof Rack Recommendation for a 2007 Ford Focus 4 door Sedan

Question:

I would really like to mount permanent roof rack Thule or Yakima on My Focus but, Im absolutely unable to find anyone who feels comfortabe about drilling holes in this roof without knowing that there will be no interference issues and what areas might be clear for the bolt holes for the mount feet. Does anyone know? Spaces I might consider are to the outsides of the rubber strip between the top of the front and rear doors and the strip, just behind the top of the front winshield and just ahead of the rear window, or just to the inside of the rubber strip as far forward and rear ward as the space may allow. Id really appreciate the advice. Everyone Ive seen advises to forget it and use the doorway clips.

For your 2007 Ford Focus 4 door sedan the only recommendation I can make would be to install a Thule rack custom made for your vehicle that will use the door clips. Drilling into the roof of your vehicle would potentially void the warranty of your vehicle and there hasn't been a roof rack tested to work in that configuration on your vehicle so I cannot safely recommend it.

I would also potentially leak when it rained, and if you ever decided that you wanted to remove the rack from your vehicle you would have holes drilled there.

I would strongly recommend you get the following components to complete a roof rack on your 2007 Ford Focus:

Thule AeroBlade Load Bars # TH711200
Thule Rapid Traverse Roof-Rack Foot Pack # TH480R
Thule Roof-Rack Fit Kit for Traverse Foot Packs # THKIT1565
