Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2013 Ford Edge Towing a Pop Up Camper
Question:
I have a 2013 Ford Edge with a class 2 factory installed 2inch hitch rated for 3500lb and a tounge weight of 350lb. I have just purchased a pop up tent trailer with a dry weight of 2,200lb and dry hitch weight of 358lb is this ok or do I need to increase the hitch TW capacity? Regards

Expert Reply:
If the dry tongue weight of your pop-up camper is 358 lbs then most likely it would be even higher when loaded and ready to tow.
The best recommendation I can make would be for you to upgrade to a hitch with more tongue weight capacity like the Curt Hitch part # C13067 as it can handle up to 400 lbs of tongue weight.
You will also need to check the towing capacity of your vehicle in the owners manual as well and be sure not to exceed the lower of the two figures.
For trailer wiring you would want the Curt Harness part # C56120.
For ball mounts I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag.
