Fifth-Wheel Hitch And Wiring Recommendation For 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 With 6 Ft Bed

Question:

Hi, looking at a 5th wheel kit, Part Numbers: C16521,C16420-204 for on 07 Ram Mega Cab 3500. Wondering if this is the best option for that truck and if the kit comes with the wiring harness as well. Will be pulling an RV, roughly 12k fully loaded, with an ATV trailer or small boat behind that. Also, are you running any promotions for new customers? Thanks!

When using a fifth-wheel hitch you want to make certain you choose a hitch that can handle the weight you plan on carrying easily. It is better to go a little more heavy-duty than choosing one that may not be big enough.

For your 2007 Dodge 3500 Ram Mega Cab with a 6 ft bed, I recommend the Curt Fifth Wheel for the Dodge Ram Pickup, part # C16541. This is a 20K, dual jaw hitch, and has a height adjustment from 17-1/2 to 21-1/2 inches with a 12 inch slider travel front to back.

You will want to check with the authorities in the states you plan on traveling to make sure you are allowed to tow another trailer behind your towed RV. Many states do not allow a second towed trailer.

If that is the case, then the Curt Fifth Wheel, part # C16521 may work well for you.

The custom installation kit I recommend is part # C16420-204. This kit features custom brackets that do not require drilling into the truck frame and greatly reduces the installation time over universal bracket systems. I have attached a link to a fifth-wheel installation you can check out.

These fifth-wheel systems do not come with the wiring kit, so I recommend the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Plug # HM42137. This is a hassle-free installation that uses your truck wiring while retaining the use of your 7-way connector on the rear of your truck. I have attached an installation video for wiring you can take a look at.
