Question:
I am from Mississippi and have to relocate to West Virginia for work. As i have never had to deal with the winter weather i will experiance in WV i have little to no knowledge about snow chains. I drive a Ram 1500 2wd with p265/70 17. Do i need snow chains on all four wheels or just the back?

You would want chains on the main drive wheels. On your 2012 Ram 1500 that would be the rear wheels. If you put chains on the front as well it will help with braking and turning as long as there is snow or ice on the ground.
If you do not anticipate needing to use the chains often then a simple set of twist link chains, # PWH2228SC, would work well. But for chains that will basically last forever and offer the best traction, go with reversible square link chains, # PWE2228SC.
Please consult the truck owners manual for specific information on the use of chains. I have also included a link to our help article on tire chains for you to view. And I provided a link to the chains that fit your Ram with 265/70-17 tires.
