Electric Winch Recommendation for a Boat Lift

Question:

I have a Neumann cantilever boat lift with Lund1775 Classic and 90 hp Mercury. Gear ratio explanation for this unit says one 18.75 inch revolution advances take up hub one turn...does that mean the carriage lift only moves a few inches per handle revolution?..I must be missing something..it would take forever to gat a boat forward and up out of the water..total weight is about 1800 lbs, so thought this 3500 lb braking winch would be a good choice. Pla advise or recommend a better ion Thank you,

Honestly, I would recommend you stick with the winch that came with the Neumann Boat Lift that you have. It was designed and tested for being used with your application and the only better alternative I would recommend would be to go with an electric winch. Hand winches do require quite a bit of cranking so yes, your winch will require a great deal of cranking to lift your boat out of the water.

Something like the Dutton Lainson StrongArm Winch with Remote part # DL25032 would work great.

I attached an FAQ on selecting electric winches to the right.
