Replacing Time Delayed Brake Controller in 2008 Chrysler Town & Country with Proportional Model

Question:

I have a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country with a aftermarket time delay brake controller. If I need to replace the current time delay brake controller with a proportional controller, can I connect the proportional controller to the existing wiring harness used for the time delay controller or do I need to use a wire harness specifically designed for a proportional controller?

The answer to your question will depend on the manufacturer of the existing controller and the proportional controller you're planning on using. For instance, if you're speaking of a controller manufactured by Tekonsha, like the Tekonsha # 39523 PowerTrac, and you were switching to a Prodigy P2, part # 90885, you could indeed use the same connector.

If your existing controller doesn't have a connector, you can simply sever the four wires connecting the controller, and then wire in the # 20127 connector to the bare wires. The 20127 would plug into your new controller. The P2 and the Primus, part # TK90160 would both be excellent choices. The Voyager # 39510 is at an attractive price point, but lack of a digital display makes it difficult to use.
