From what I could find, the roof rack capacity of a 2006 Kia Sorento is 100 pounds but you will want to consult your owners manual and with Kia to confirm. When loading a cargo bag such as # HE3021 you will want to place the heaviest items at the bottom. I would not put any more than 100 pounds in the bag, even if the roof was rated higher.

The bag will work well to keep out water but there is always the chance that water could get in. We always recommend putting items that can't get wet into plastic bags or containers just to be safe.

I also recommend protective pad # RL100650 to not only protect the vehicle roof but to also keep the bag in place while traveling. Another handy item is wheel step # HE4040. It makes loading and unloading the bag easier.
