Will Reese Custom Install Kit Work with Current Rails and Holes on 2004 Chevrolet Silverado
Question:
I have an 04 Silverado HD, 8ft box. My hitch is the 15K unit with the fits all brackets. I am removing the bed for body work and was thinking about using the RP5006458 install kit instead of the PITA brackets. Mine is the standard Reese 15k with 4 bolts in the rail.. It has the four pieces of angle iron.. I CAN NOT get to them to remove!! The rails are the same measurement as in instructions. Will this kit work with my current rails AND the current holes in bed?? Thanks

Reese only made a 4-bolt and a 10-bolt base rail. Since you mention that you have 4 bolts each rail, you more than likely have a 10-bolt base rail. I have attached a picture to show the difference in the two base rails.
If you currently have the Reese 10-Bolt Above Bed Base Rails, # RP58058, on your 2004 Chevrolet Silverado with 8 ft box, the holes will not match up exactly when installing the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP50064-58. Keep in mind that this kit includes the base rails and frame brackets.
According to the installation instructions, the holes for the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP50064-58, need to be 3/8 inch closer to the cab of the truck. If you just need the frame brackets, you can order part # RP50064.
If you are still interested in installing the custom base rail kit, you will need to remove the universal L-brackets that are currently mounted on your truck.
