Does Installing a Draw Tite Hitch on a 2014 Toyota Camry Weaken the Frame

Question:

I bought the Drawtite #36514 for my 2014 Camry. I took it to a local mechanic who expressed concerns that drilling a 1inch hole in each frame rail would weaken the frame and may possibly void the warranty. He wouldnt install it and suggested I take it to a qualified body shop. Should I be concerned about this installation?

Draw Tite extensively tested the Draw Tite Hitch part # 36540 when installed on a 2014 Toyota Camry and found that even with the small holes drilled the integrity of the frame was not compromised. It sounds like your mechanic was being a little paranoid, which is understandable since he probably didn't want to inadvertently void your vehicle warranty.

I can assure you it will be fine. You could try contacting a Toyota dealer to see what they think on the matter as well.
