After Installing 7-Way on 2012 Honda Pilot and Using 7- to 4-Way Adapter Trailer Lights Do Not Work

Question:

My 2012 Honda Pilot did not come equipped with towing lighting...I bought the t connector kit and installed everthing with no missing parts. Relays and 20 amp fuse included. connected a 4pin to 7 connector still no lights? Im not sure what else i can check..Please help!

It could be a problem with the 7-Way to 4-Way adapter. To determine if that is the problem, unplug the adapter and use a circuit tester such as # v to test the 7-Way. If the 7-Way has power without the adapter plugged in then the issue is probably the adapter. If you determine you need a new one, # PK12716 is the most popular option.

If the 7-Way does not have power, then it could be that one of the fuses or relays is bad. Checking fuses is easy but the only way to test a relay is to use a known good relay in its place.

If the 7-Way does have power and you plug in the adapter to test it and it also has power, then the issue is on the trailer. It is likely a dirty or corroded trailer connector or a bad ground connection at the main trailer connector or at the lights on the trailer.
