Measuring to Determine Which Thule Cargo Boxes Fit a Lexus RX 350

Question:

I have a Lexus RX350 with factory installed crossbars. Im looking at the Thule Force XL but cant tell how far it will extend over the windshield. Any idea? It looks like the Force M is a better fit but I wanted something larger.

Front overhang for cargo boxes is not an issue of concern. Longer boxes will overhang the front some but most boxes have adjustable feet to allow you to have the box more forward or rearward on the vehicle roof.

The area of concern is the back of the vehicle. Things like antennas and rear hatch doors can interfere with the cargo box. In order to determine which Thule boxes will fit without interference you will need to take one measurement.

First, if the crossbars on your Lexus RX 350 are adjustable, move the front bar as far forward as it will go. Then measure from the center of that bar back to the nearest obstruction. If there is no antenna then measure to the seam between the top of the rear hatch and the roof. Then you can use the chart in the included picture to determine which boxes will fit without interference.

For example, if your measurement was 59 inches the Force XT cargo boxes, parts # TH6356B, # TH6357B, # TH6358B, and # TH6359B, would all fit.
