Selecting Replacement Hub for Palomino Y-4127 Pop-Up Camper

Question:

Hi - I am looking for a trailer hub to keep as a spare in case there are any problems with the 2 working hubs. My trailer is a Palomino Y-4127. Not sure if you can look that up or not. I think the wheels are 14inch with 5 on 4-1/2inch bolt pattern with EZLUBE zerk. And I think the axle weight would be 2200 the spec on the camper says 2,172. Can you recommend which hubs would work? Also - do any of yours come pre-greased?

Based on my research the Palomino Y-4127 Pop-Up Camper comes equipped with electric drum brakes. The hub assembly you referenced, part # 8-258-50UC1-EZ from Dexter, is an idler hub intended for applications without brakes.

In order to select a suitable spare hub assembly you will need to confirm the bearings used in your trailer. Axle weight and bolt pattern are known, 2000-lbs and 5-on-4-1/2-inch, so all you'll need to confirm in order to choose a compatible hub is the part number from each bearing and the drum size.

You can use the link provided to see all hub/drum assemblies in your required bolt pattern. You can then use the filters in the left-hand margin to narrow the results. Sine you have EZ-Lube spindles you will want to choose the EZ-Lube hub that matches your bearing set. For example, if your hub/drums are 7 x 1-3/4-inch size and use bearing L44649 for both inner and outer bearings, you can use part # 8-257-5UC3-EZ from Dexter. Note this hub works with 10-, 12- and 13-inch diameter wheels.

None of our hub assemblies are pre-greased. For reference I have linked a helpful article on bearings and a video on hub installation.
