Brake controllers are not vehicle specific so any brake controller we carry can be installed on your Jeep Liberty. Along with a brake controller you will need a Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, item # ETBC7, or item # ETBC6, because your vehicle does not have factory wiring installed for a brake controller.
You will also need a working 4-Way trailer connector either item # 118524, if you do not already have one. I have posted a link below to an FAQ article and a video of the # ETBC7 kit showing installation.
The Tekonsha P2, item # 90885, is an excellent brake controller for your vehicle and trailer setup, and will help conserve the brakes on the trailer and vehicle by applying the appropriate amount of braking pressure to the trailer brakes based on your settings and the speed which the vehicle is decelerating. Time delayed brake controllers are set to a particular brake pressure and the same pressure is applied when the brake pedal is pushed no matter how fast the vehicle is slowing.
