Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for a 2011 Buick Enclave Towing a Trailer with Surge Brakes

Question:

I have a 2011 Buick Enclave, it currently has no hitch or light harness. I need to install a hitch as well as a harness. The harness I need will be used on a boat trailer with surge brake so I need it to have a 5 flat or the large round found on most trucks today as I have the adapter to go from the 5 flat on the trailer to the 7 round on the vehicle. Can you steer me in the right direction?

Lets start with a hitch. For that I recommend the Draw Tite hitch part # 75528 as this is the most popular hitch with other owners of 2011 Buick Enclaves. I attached an install video for you to check out also.

For a wiring harness lets start with a 4-way. For that you would want the Tow Ready Wiring harness part # 118450. This plugs in line with your tail light connectors. Install video attached as well.

Now to convert to a 5-way to work with your surge brakes you would want the Adapter 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter # 20036. To install this product you will need to tap into the reverse light circuit of your taillight harness. For more information check out the install video I attached.

For a ball mount, hitch ball, and pin and clip, I would recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit, part # 989900. This is a kit which includes 2 ball mounts, a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, and a hitch pin and clip.
