Parts Needed to Install a Trailer Brake Controller on a 2013 Ford Explorer
Question:
I have 2013 Ford Explorer and I am attaching POD brake controller. I understand that I can get a brake harness to attach to it, but do I need an extra relay and fuse? If so, which one do I need? Any mounting instructions for the fuse and the relay would be helpful.

If your 2013 Ford Explorer came with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then you would use brake controller wiring harness # 3035-P. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
If your Explorer came with a factory 4-Way but not a 7-Way then you will not need the harness above and will need to hardwire in the brake controller using # 37185 and installation kit # 5506.
And if the vehicle did not come with a trailer wiring harness at all you would first need to install a 4-Way, # C56093. And the you would need 4 and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7. I have included some links that help explain and show the hardwire installations.
No additional fuses or relays should be needed.
