Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport with Aftermarket 4-Way

Id like to attach a 7 way connector to tow a small popup. Im set up for a 4 flat now aftermarket. Any recommendations?

In order to install a 7-Way trailer connector on your 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sport you will need 4 to 7-Way adapter # 31785. On this adapter all you have to do is plug your existing 4-Way and ground the white wire to the Jeep frame. This will provide you with the basic light functions but nothing else (if you do not hardwire in the remaining wires on the # 37185).

If the trailer has electric brakes, accessories that run off of a 12 volt power source, and/or reverse lights, you will want to install # ETBC7 instead of # 37185.

The # ETBC7 includes the 4 to 7-Way adapter and all the wiring and accessories needed to make the other functions active. The only other thing you would need is a brake controller to controller the electric trailer brakes. I recommend the ever-popular and reliable P2 # 90885. I have included some links that show and explain the # ETBC7 installation for you.

A replacement 7-Way such as # HM42190 is designed to replace a damaged or missing factory 7-Way on vehicles that were originally equipped with a 7-Way from the factory.
