Wiring Trailer with Separate Bulb System for Use with 4-Pole Wiring Harness on 2006 Kia Sedona
Question:
I have a 2006 Kia Sedona. My trailer has lights that have a separate bulb for turn and brake/running lights. I tried a Hopkins converter for separate brake/turn for vehicle and combined turn/brake for trailer, didnt work. What do you suggest for this setup? Thanks

You can adapt your trailer that has separate bulbs for turn and brake/running lights for use with your Sedona with 4-pole by installing converter # 118158. This converter will mount on your trailer and you'll need to use a junction box like # 38656 to protect it from the elements. You will need ring terminals like # DW05702-1 to make the connections within the junction box; this is where the converter wiring will meet the trailer wiring.
The three wires (white, green and yellow) on the input side will connect using butt connectors like # 05731-5 to a 4-pole trailer side connector # HM48110; this 4-pole will connect to the harness on your Sedona. The running light circuit will completely bypass the converter and go right to the junction box to connect to the trailer wiring.
The three wires on the output side of the converter will connect at the junction box to the trailer wiring for the turn and stop circuits.
