Does the Computer Need to be Flashed to Install a Brake Controller on a 2003 Dodge Ram

Question:

I am wondering if you can sell just the vehicle specific wiring harness I need to plug a Tekonsha P3 Controller into my 2003 dodge. Since I already have the controller but it was on another truck before. Also I am wondering if these can be plugged straight in and they are good to go, or does the computer need to be flashed? Thanks for the help.

You could certainly sell the vehicle specific wiring adapter for your P3 brake controller if it does not fit your truck. If you can tell me the year, make and model of the truck that the harness came off of, I would be happy to tell you all of the models that the harness is compatible with.

The computer of your Dodge Ram does not need to be flashed to install a brake controller, nor does the brake controller need to be flashed. If you already have the brake controller wiring in place, then you would simply install and mount the brake controller and run through the setup process. I have attached a link to the installation instructions for the P3 for you to check out. The only setup that needs to take place is setting up the power levels so you are able to tow your trailer smoothly.
