Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2000 Honda Accord

Question:

Can I install a 2 hitch on my 2000 Honda Accord Coupe Im not looking to haul anything too heavy, maybe a hitch bike rack and maybe 2 bikes. Only reason to want a 2inch is so I can swap with another vehicle that has a 2inch to hold our 4 bike rack. Thanks, Jay

All of the hitches available for your 2000 Honda Accord have 1-1/4 inch openings that are Class I rated. Since they are Class I rated you can only carry up to 2 bikes on a bike rack.

The best bike rack recommendation I could give you would be a Class I hitch compatible, 4-bike rack, that can fit 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch hitches. When used on your Accord you would be limited to only carrying 2 bikes. For that I would recommend the Thule Hitching Post Bike Rack part # TH934XTR. Check out the review video I attached for this rack.

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Thule Bike Adapter Bar # TH982XT to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.

If you go with the Curt Hitch part # C11290 that you referenced you will need to use a stabilizer strap when using the bike rack. For that you would want part # 18050.
