The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # 118494, allows you to operate trailer stop, turn, and tail lights but also includes a converter to protect your vehicle's wiring. This powered converter connects directly to your vehicle's battery to avoid overloading the electrical system. If there was ever a short or problem with the trailer's wiring, the only damage that could occur would be to the harness and not your vehicles wiring system.
I am including a video link to show the installation of the T-One Harness on an Equinox which may be of help.
The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # 56094, will fit your 2014 Chevy Equinox and operate the trailer stop, turn, and tail lights. This harness does not have a powered converter to protect your vehicle wiring.
It is also recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections. Dielectric Grease, # 11755, helps to prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture.
