Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Towing a 2012 Ameri Lite TT
Question:
I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and a 2012 Ameri Lite 24RK travel trailer. The Jeep max TW is 650lbs the TW on the Trailer dry is 490 lbs. The trailer weighs 4125 dry. Needs to work with a Prodigy 2 Brake system. What would you recommend for a weight distribution hitch and would you recommend sway control? I have been racking my brain, :- Thanks

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow, this figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached an FAQ on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well.
Hopefully your setup when totally loaded is lighter than 650 lbs. Assuming its right at that figure I would recommend the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # RP66083. This system works on tongue weight ranges of 400-800 lbs so it should work well for you. Sway control really does help, especially the Strait-Line system that is on this system. This is the only sway control system on the market that proactively works to prevent sway before it starts.
This system will work well with your Prodigy P2 brake controller part # 90885. I attached an FAQ article on weight distribution systems for you to check out also.
