Can You Install B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck on 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 & Not Install Safety Chain U-Bolt
Question:
Hi, I am wondering if this gooseneck hitch can be installed without the safety chain attachment points that are part of the kit? I am using an Andersen gooseneck hitch that has a plate to connect the safety chains to so Id prefer not having to make two more holes/slots in the bed of my truck for the safety chain attachments points of the B&W kit. If it cant be mounted without them coming through the bed, is there another turnover ball kit you could recommend for a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 with standard bed? Thanks, Darcy

Hi Darcy,
So I went ahead and checked with the manufacturer, B&W, for you and they verified that it isn't necessary to install the safety chain U-bolts on your 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 when installing the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1019.
Those are just for the safety chains and don't hold the hitch in any way, so not having them on isn't needed for the integrity of the hitch.
You made a superb choice going with the Turnoverball # BWGNRK1019 as it is easily the highest-quality gooseneck on the market. The only other thing I wanted to add is that you'll also need a gooseneck wiring harness (if you don't have one already), and the right one for your '24 Sierra 1500 is the 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # 50-97-410.
