Recommended Flat Towing Set Up for a 2024 GMC Canyon Denali

Question:

Hello Jerred, I have a new 2024 GMC Canyon Denali. I will be towing it behind a 2019 Tiffin Allegro 33aa. The RV came with a brand new Blue Ox BX4370 and BX88357 kit. I have the wiring harness from the RV to the tow vehicle. Essentially I need everything from the front of the truck to the tail lights. Can you suggest what I would need to order? Thank you, Wayne

Congrats on the new truck Wayne! I would be happy to make suggestions but I wanted to address one of the parts you got with your RV. The Blue Ox Off-Road Bumper Adapters item # BX88357 that came with your RV attaches to specific bumpers rated to be flat towed that have D-rings. We do not have anything like that.

Unless the new Canyon's come with an option for D-rings instead of tow hooks you'll need to find an aftermarket bumper or use a traditional base plate like item # RM48GR. If you go this route you'll also have to use the Roadmaster Base Plate Adapter Brackets for Blue Ox RV-Mounted Tow Bars item # RO64FR. This will allow you to use your Blue Ox Ascent Tow Bar item # BX4370 with the item # RM48GR.

Additionally, they make the Canyon's right next door to our office and I have only seen ones with tow hooks. Those can't be used for flat towing. The item # RM48GR base plate installs in place of the hooks. It is the only one available for the 2024 Canyons which is why you need the adapter item # RO64FR.

To Flat Tow your 2024 GMC Canyon Denali you will need the following parts:

Wiring Harness - Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit item # RM-152

Connector and Bracket - RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector item # RM-910030-7 and Bracket item # RM-910030-5

Battery Disconnect - Roadmaster Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle item # RM-766

Supplemental Braking System - Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes item # SM99251

One other question Jerred, do I need a battery charge line from the coach Since the Demco is using truck battery power to operate the Demco Stay In Play? Thanks a bunch.

@MikeB Roadmaster says you don't need one however if you're running into issues you can install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles item # RM-156-25.

@JerredH Thanks a bunch Jerred. Also apologies for posting this under the wrong name. I opened the 2024 Canyon Q&A thinking it was mine. Thanks for addressing it.
