Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch And Pin Box Setup For A 2012 Ram 2500 With Ram Boxes

Question:

I have a 2012 ram 2500 short bed with the ram boxs and looking to purchase a 5th wheel camper and need some help with the route I need to go. The camper we planned on putting the Reese sidewinder pin box on to help with tight turns. I like to have the puck system in the bed for the 5th wheel mount is this possible.

Hi Liam,

Since you have Ram boxes you will need to use a rotating pin box like the Reese Sidewinder, otherwise the pin box will hit the Ram boxes when making turns. In order to find the right fit for your trailer you'll need to first determine the bolt pattern. If there's still a white sticker on your pin box listing the serial #, LCI item #, and RPO # then I can use that information to look up your bolt pattern. If not then you'll need to measure the bolt pattern using the attached help article below.

There unfortunately aren't any aftermarket puck systems available for a 2012 Ram 2500 so you'll have to go with base rails in order to get four points of contact for the Sidewinder. I recommend the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3255 along with base rail kit # BWRVK2600. From there you'll also need wedge kit # SWW-06 to lock the kingpin of the Sidewinder into the jaws of the Patriot.
