Do I Need a Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch for a 2021 Chevy Silverado 3500 Short Bed w/ the Puck System?

Question:

Can I get away with a fixed BandW fifth wheel hitch instead of a slider in my 2021 Silverado 3500 short bed. Towing a 2019 Grand Design 295RL. What model would you suggest? Truck has OEM puck system.

No, you can't. You're going to need to use a sliding hitch with your 2021 Chevy Silverado 3500 short bed. If you don't get the extra clearance the slider provides you won't be able to make full 180 degree turns and will end up damaging both your truck and trailer.

The best sliding 5th wheel hitch for the GM factory puck system is the B&W Companion item # BWRVK3775. The Companion Slider has a 20,000 lbs capacity and will give you 12" of travel for making tight turns and backing.
