Parts Needed to Install a Brake Controller and 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2004 Dodge Ram
Question:
I have purchased a 2004 dodge ram 1500 quad cab 5.7 hemi. It has the tow haul button and the brake controller plug under the dash, and no 7 way plug at the bumper. Do you have the wiring harness and 7 way plug that I would need?

If your 2004 Dodge Ram did not originally come with a factory 7-Way then you will have to hardwire in a brake controller, even though it has a tow button and plug for a controller. To do this you would first need to install a 4-Way (unless the truck already has one) using # C55504.
Then you will need the 4- and 7-Way installation kit # ETBC7 which provides the 7-Way, retains the 4-Way, and includes the wiring and accessories needed to wire in the brake controller. I have included some links that show and explain this installation for you.
If the truck did originally come with a factory 7-Way and it is just missing then you would need # 20135 to replace it. For a brake controller wiring harness it is going to depend on the brake controller you choose. Whether it is a hardwire or a plug in situation I recommend the P2, # 90885 because it is easy to use and its reliable.
If you do determine that you can just plug in the controller then you would need harness # 3020-P.
