What is Best Trailer Tire in Size 5.30-12

Question:

Concern with bias ply vs. radial. I have 2022 like new Journey 5.30 -12 bias ply 4 tread / 2 sidewall / 6P.R. / 82M range C / DOT 15YCB, currently on my Rally Wagon trailer. My question is, is the above safe at 81 mph max, in the AZ heat, beings it is a bias and not a radial. I plan on riding at 65-75 max well within weight limits but cannot find any info on the Journey tire. I believe you have a radial taskmaster or loadmaster that can be had in a radial. Any advice would be helpful. I hate to think I made a poor choice in tires at 75 mph. Thanks!

Hey Lee, so in general the radial tire construction is preferred over the bias ply. You'll get a more stable ride and generally a little less heat build up. If you will be under the weight and speed capacity of your current tires I think you'll be just fine though.

The absolute best option though would be a radial in your size of 5.30-12 that has a higher speed rating like the Taskmaster part # TT53012C but I do believe you're in a decent spot currently with what you have now.

Thanks! I was concerned about the "M" bias ply rating in that most seem to be around 65mph. I'll give them a go.

@LeeW No prob! The M speed rating actually indicates a speed rating of 81 mph in case there was still confusion about that.
