5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter for 2007 Dutchmen RV Colorado 32QB

Question:

Hi i have a 2015 f350 crew cab short bed with Ford factory prep package. We currently have a 2007 colorado Dutchmen 32qb. I was wondering what kind of hitch we could put on it to make it a gooseneck. I think we’ll have to get an offset ball too. Thank you.

The Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box like the # GY98GR you looked at is a great option for converting your 5th wheel to a gooseneck. However, unless you have a tapered nose you won't be able to make those 90 degree turns. If you still want to go this route the correct pin box is determined by using the formula GVWR x .22 = TW. Since your GVWR is 12,192 lbs that comes out to 2,682 lbs so you need a 4,500 lb tongue weight model. You can choose from the following based on the pin box you have:

-Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert 1621/1621HD - 30K GTW - 4.5K TW # GY38FR

-Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Fabex/M&M 665 - 30K GTW - 4.5K TW # GY68FR

-Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert 1116/1716 - 30K GTW - 4.5K TW # GY48FR

-Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box - Lippert Rhino - 24K GTW - 4.5K TW # GY33GR

Another option is to use the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter w/8" Offset for Short-Bed Trucks # AM3139. To find if this would give you enough clearance use the following formula:

(A + B) - C = Clearance

A = Distance from center of gooseneck hitch ball to truck cab
B = Length of pin box arm (with offset adapter so add 8") past trailer nose
C = Width of trailer divided by 2

As long as you have at least 4" of clearance you will be able to make a 90 degree turn.
