Hopkins Agility Brake Controller Does Not Recognize Trailer when Connected to 2005 Chevy Silverado

Question:

I recently purchased the Hopkins agility brake controller for my 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500hd. When attached to the trailer, the lights and etc all work on the trailer, however the brake controller does not have the red light on, nor does it light up any numbers when the brake pedal is pressed. I have hooked up several trailers with the same response, so I know it is not the trailers. We have also checked fuses and ground wires. The input on the back to the 7 way connector reads 4volts like the manufacturer told us it should. However when the brake is pressed it does not change to 12 volts. We have checked to make sure we have the proper hook up for the brake controller and the red wire is attached to where it supposed to be.

On a 2005 Chevy Silverado there are some connections that you may need to make under the hood to make everything fully functional. I have included a link to a help article that explains it for you.

Your Hopkins brake controller should be plugged into the junction box under the dash using harness # HM47795. You mentioned the red wire and that is critical. It should be in the position indicated in the included picture.

I have linked a video that may also help and a couple of help articles on troubleshooting brake controllers for you.
