Will the Yakima RidgeBack Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Carrier Clear Spare Tire on 2012 Toyota RAV4

Question:

I have a 2012 Toyota RAV4 w/ a spare tire attached to the rear door. I have a Curt 13149 2-in receiver installed. Will this Yakima Y02450 bike carrier clear the spare tire. Im worried about my spare tire cover rubbing against the bike carrier.

When we installed Curt Class III trailer hitch # C13149 on a 2011 Toyota RAV4, same generation as yours, we found that from the center of the hitch pin hole back to clear the spare tire carrier was 6 inches, see video. On the Yakima RidgeBack, # Y02457, it measures 10 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the upright mast.

If you take the measurement on your 2012 RAV4 and it is less than 9 inches from hitch pin hole to the back of the spare tire carrier then the rack will fit! I have linked a help article that shows how to take the measurement and a link to a video review of the bike rack.
