Recommended Replacement for a Marshall 290-1 Regulator

Question:

I am replacing a propane gas two-stage regulator on my 2012 Tiffin Allegro Breeze motor home. The old regulator says Model 290 and 290-01 on the rear side. I wish to replace this with one of equal or better quality. Kevin Gross 360.620.7334 Silverdale, WA PDT

Hey Kevin, to replace your Marshall 290-1 regulator you can use the Camco Horizontal 2-Stage Propane Regulator w/ P.O.L # CAM59333 or you can use the # CAM59313 for a vertical regulator replacement.

Both of these regulators are 2 stage, rated for 160,000 Btus, and maintains a constant 11" w.c propane pressure.

I see no means of providing photos in this reply message. I can provide those if you have a means for doing so. Good day Bryce. At first view, the part POL # CAM59313 appears to be compatible; however in order to be compatible with my system the outlet side connector dimensions must be 1/2 inch ID and ¾ inch OD LH thread – this is the internal service-side hose fitting and cannot be changed without an adapter OR replacing the entire internal supply hose up to the next separable fitting within my motorhome. The regulator inlet side MUST be approx 1/2 inch ID LH thread (given) male to accept the connector hose to the 20 Gal LP tank (I am unsure since I cannot remove the existing supply-side hose which is frozen). Note that the supply tank is more than 15 inches from the regulator mounting bracket and that is why I have specified a 20-inch length supply side hose between the 20 Gal tank and the regulator. I do not want to suspend the regulator FROM the 20 Gal supply tank. The CAMCO P.O.L # CAM59333 has the 20 Gal tank connector attached and I must be able to remove that and connect the supply side connector hose to be compatible with my configuration. I have identified a local industrial supply shop who can make up the supply side connection hose and fittings, which may still be necessary. In order to understand if your proposed regulator POL # CAM59313 is compatible, it must have an exit diameter and thread to accommodate my motorhome MALE ½ inch ID ¾ inch OD connector. All three hoses that Samantha had recommended were apparently conventional LP gas grill propane tank connectors with female threaded knurled plastic handles. Per my photographs, my 20 Gal LP motorhome tank DOES NOT HAVE MALE threads, so these are incompatible. I cannot be certain if the regulator is compatible.

@KevinG Hey Kevin, so a couple of us took a look at your Model 290-01 regulator and have come to the conclusion that the Camco # CAM59313 will work just fine. The I.D., and the O.D. that you measured seems to be the entire area rather than the actual area the hose would connect to, meaning that it would work. If it turns out you really do have those measurements, then you're going to have to go to a specialty shop somewhere to have some adapters made because this isn't something that we carry due to it being an irregular size.
