Recommended Bike Rack for a Mokwheel Basalt ST

Question:

HI. I am considering the easyfold xt. My concern is that I live in FLA and the rack will be stored in the hot garage. The heat in the garage really wears on plastic. Your thoughts on the longevity of the rack? Should I have a concern? Also, I ride a MOKWHEEL BASALT step through. Can you suggest how the clamps will be best utilized to secure the bike? Best Location to attach the clamp? THANKS

I am big fan of the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack item # TH903202 and highly recommend it. We've been selling the EasyFold for years and haven't heard of any heat related issues due to storage. The heat problems we've dealt with have been due to exhaust issues when the tailpipes are too close to the back of the rack. Thule does thorough environmental testing on all of their bike racks.

As far as securing your Mokwheel Basalt ST to the EasyFold XT item # TH903202, the padded clamps will grip your bike by the seat post. I checked the manufacturer's website and it looks like you're going to also need the Fat Bike Straps for Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack item # TH985101. The ones that come with the EasyFold only work with tires up to 3" wide.

Please note that it is recommended to remove your battery while transporting e-bikes on a bike rack. The Mokwheel Basalt ST is listed at weighing 68 lbs so you'll definitely want to take the extra weight off to get below the bike rack's 65 lbs per bike capacity.

Thanks, Jerred. Yes, weight is a concern and the battery will be out. Clamping...I have a suspension seat post so that may not be possible to do. What about below the post on the frame/post tube? Is there enough room for the grip/clamp between the down tube and the fender? I tried attaching a photo but I don't think it worked.

@Hal You're welcome Hal! Yes, you will be able to clamp onto the wider seat post/frame tube.
