Will Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit Raise 2021 Keystone Cougar 315RLS

Question:

I have a 2021 Cougar 315 rls. I was wondering what the spring arc is of the 2570 slipper spring. My camper is setting about an 1-1 1/2” higher in the front than the back. The pin box and hitch are adjusted to 4-5” of clearance of the truck box. I was hoping the arc was a little greater to help raise the back so it would toe level. If it is not level this would put more weight on the back axle, is that correct?

I reached out to Roadmaster to see what the measurement was on the # RM-2460-2570 but it was not something they have available. Regardless, I can tell you that the Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit is not going to act as a lift and raise the height of your Keystone Cougar. It is designed to keep you at the same ride height once installed.

The only reason there may be a height difference after installation would be if the current leaf springs are worn out and flat. If that is the case, installing this kit would raise it back to stock height. The nose sitting high on a trailer will put some additional weight on the back axle. This can cause additional wear on the tires and possibly clearance issues at the rear, but at 1-1/2" it isn't overly significant.

If you want to smooth out your ride with the # RM-2460-2570 you could cut the hangers off and weld on a piece of stock steel to raise it or install longer hangers to get the trailer level and still use the system. If your goal is simply to get yourself level then you could use the Correct Track Trailer Alignment and Lift Kit # RR23QX. This will raise your trailer height by 1-1/4" or 2-1/4".
