Switching From Lead Acid To Lithium Batteries - Do I Need To Change My Charging System Too?

Question:

I would like to switch from my current lead acid RV batteries 2 to Lithium batteries. Can this be done or do I need to change the charging system in the 5th wheel?

That will completely depend on what kind of charging system is currently in your fifth wheel. Some converter chargers are not lithium compatible. Some models will have a switch to change from a lead acid to a lithium charging profile. You should be able to find a sticker on the converter or charger that tells us the make and model number. We can use that to determine if it is lithium compatible or not.

Depending on what you have, you may just have to flip a switch, it may be possible to swap just the converter section, or you may have to replace the entire power station with one like the # PD4135K.

If you can provide the model number, or even send pictures of the sticker on the current converter charger I am happy to see what we can do for you.

I have sent the photo but heard nothing back. I sent it via email. I have tried to add the photo to this response but it fills the entire page. Perhaps I am doing something wrong? Adding below what is on the sticker. Power System Converter Listed PD4560K18NS2 324L Input: 105-130VAC, 50-60 Hrz, 1000W Output 13.6VDC, 50A Class CTL Distribution Panelboard Type 1 Enclosure (indoor) 812385A then printed vertical (perpendicular) to the side of "Listed" is 17097

@RussG You are upgrading to Lithium batteries correct? If so you can simply replace the converter section with part # PD4560LICSV. We have confirmed with the folks at Progressive Dynamics that this will be the correct Lithium compatible converter section for the PD4560K18NS2 in your picture.
