Can I Swap Out My ST205/75R14 For ST205/75R15 Tires?

Question:

I have an older Haulmark Transport trailer 2005 Model TS7X14DT2 with 205/75D 14 tires on it. Correct me if I am wrong but would the diameter and width of a 205/75R 15 be the same? I need to replace some older rusted out wheels and dry rotted tires and prefer to go up to 15 inch to match my other trailer for interchangeability if needed and do not want to purchase the wrong tire and wheel set. Also, I am looking at Item # AM22627 wheels and wondered if those came with valve stems and lug nuts or if those needed to be purchased separately.

A ST205/75R14 trailer tire is going to have a diameter of about 26.3" and a width of 8.1" when inflated. If we go up to a 15", the ST205/75R15 tires are about 27.3" in diameter and 8.1" wide. So, they have the same width, but the 15" will be 1" larger in diameter.

That said, it may still be possible to go with the 15" tires, such as the Kenda Karrier # AM10245, it will completely depend on what kind of clearance you currently have in the wheel well. Our rule of thumb is that you want at least 3" between the tire and the wheel well. I am not sure exactly what kind of clearance you are working with now, but if the larger tire will still leave you with at least 3" of clearance then you will be good.

To answer your question about the # AM22627 wheels, they do not come with valve stems or lug nuts, so those will need to be purchased separately. I suggest the valve stem # AM20904 which is a snap-in high pressure valve stem. For lug nuts I recommend the # KALN1375S which is a one-piece stainless lug nut.
