How Much Fascia Trimming is Needed on 2024 Ford Explorer to Install Curt Trailer Hitch

Question:

How much fascia has to be cut to install the Curt trailer hitch on a 2024 Ford Explorer and is it difficult? Will anyone see the fascia trim that was cut?

Thanks for the question Roy, and you're not looking at much fascia trimming at all on your 2024 Ford Explorer to install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # CU78FR.

If you check out the attached photo from the instructions you can see it's just a small 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" section, which you can do with a pair of shears. As for if anyone will see it, the answer to that is nope, not a single person will notice. The cutout is underneath your Explorer and only needed so the receiver has a place to jut out.

Trimming fascia can be something people are pretty apprehensive about, but the benefit of this style of hitch (that requires trimming) is that it gives you better ground clearance and nothing but the receiver shows so it looks really nice.

I also wanted to mention, just in the interest of being thorough, that if you plan on towing with your '24 Explorer and the # CU78FR hitch and don't have a factory trailer connector, the correct wiring harness is the T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat # C56093.
