Our customers consistently rate the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller, part # 90885, as being among the easiest to use and most reliable trailer brake controllers offered. This unit has the flexibility to be used with either electric trailer brakes or electric-over-hydraulic brakes and it can handle up to 4 axles.
You will be able to use a quick-connect adapter # 3015-P to plug-in the P2 to the under-dash connection port.
If your 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 has a factory 7-way connector at the rear then you are all set. If not you will also need 7-way # HM40975.
I have linked installation videos for both the P2 and the 7-way as well as an article the details the entire brake controller install process complete with photos.
