Recommended 5TH Wheel Hitch For a 2024 Chevy Silverado 3500 With Factory Prep/Puck Short Bed

Hello, I currently have a smaller 5th wheel trailer that is 8,300 GVW. We will be upgrading to a 2024 Chevy 3500 SW with the 6.8 foot bed, and getting a larger camper later in the future. Looking for a hitch recommendation with the OEM Prep package. We would still be pulling the smaller camper for several years.

I recommend the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch # DM29GV for your 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 with the 6.8' bed. This hitch is rated for up to 21,000lbs with a tongue weight up to 5,250lbs. This is my favorite hitch as it automatically moves the hitch back up to 14" as you turn to give you the clearance needed to make jackknife turns. Depending on your pin box you may need a locking plate to prevent the pin box from turning on the hitch.

The B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3775 you found is also a great hitch. This will require you to manually unlock the hitch and slide it into the maneuvering position when you need to make tight turns. Then repeat the process to move the hitch back to the towing position.
