To flat tow your 2018 Ford Explorer while keeping price in mind you'll need to following components:
Baseplate: etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e98962.
Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e34ZR. This tow bar includes safety cables and has an adjustable head to help keep the tow bar level between the motorhome and Explorer.
Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit will splice in your Explorer's tail light wiring to display the motorhome's traffic signals.
Braking System: If the motorhome has hydraulic brakes then you'll need the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251. If it has air brakes then you'll need to use the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System # SM99243 instead. Since the brake light switch wire on your Explorer isn't useable you will also need a stop light switch kit # RM-751000 when installing the indicator light for the # SM99251.
Since you'll need to disconnect the battery in order to flat tow I recommend also picking up the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect # RM-766 to make this process as easy as pressing a button. This is optional so you can save some money and physically remove the negative cable from the battery each time as well.
