Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller # 90195 Installation in 2008 Dodge Ram with Factory 7-Way
Question:
Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Dodge Ram. I have a factory 7 way trailer connector and want to install Part Number 90195, 3020-P Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Dodge. I was watching the plug and play installation for my 2008 Dodge Ram truck. The technician said you plug into the blue plug just above the control module. My connection is different pictures enclosed, there is a connector but it’s on the right side and it’s green. Is this the correct plug for the plug and play?

Thank you for submitting photos of your Dodge Ram; unfortunately, they did not come through with your question.
The linked article and video illustrate brake controller installation in a Dodge Ram equipped with a factory 7-way and quick-connect port under the dash. While the OEM connector is usually blue in color (as noted in the article and video) it is possible that another color connector was used.
You can test the contacts in the green vehicle connector to see if the correct signals are present. You will need a circuit tester like # PTW2993. For reference, operation of the tester is shown in the linked video.
On the OEM under-dash connector one pin should be hot at all times (+12 volts even if the vehicle is off). Another one of the four pins should have voltage only when the brake pedal is pressed. The other two pins should not carry a signal. If this is what you find when testing, then you should have the right connector.
You can also double-check after testing by noting the wire colors on the quick-connect harness # 3020-P. The OEM pin with +12 volts all the time should match up to the black wire on the harness' white plug; the wire that carries signal only when the brake is pressed should match up to the red wire on the white plug.
