Why Does The Progressive Dynamics 4100 Series RV Converter # PD4135K Use a 40 AMP Fuse?
Question:
Can you tell me why the Progressive Dynamics PD4135 has a 40 amp fuse for the 001 DC output to the battery when the wiring provided on this circuit is only 12 ga? 12 ga is rated at 20 amps so it appears this circuit is over-fused.

The 40 amp fuse is a reverse battery protection circuit on the Progressive Dynamics 4100 Series RV Converter # PD4135K. The instruction manual linked near the bottom of the pager covers this on page three. This size fuse is required to prevent the circuit from becoming damaged when under working power and will only blow when the battery is connected backwards.
